The landmark speech made by Mark Carney at Lloyds in September 2015 started a new way the finance industry thought about risk.
His speech was primarily focused on avoiding a possible “carbon bubble” that could result from a substantial decrease in the market capitalisation of listed insurance companies. He addressed the risks that result from climate change and their potential impact on these companies.
Mr Carney’s speech gave cause for the establishment of a very powerful and influential task force, chaired by Mr Michael Bloomberg – called the TCFD.
The recommendation published by the TCFD in June 2017 started more work in other areas to make the finance industry more sustainable.
The goal of this page is to have a central location where we publish the work being done by these groups and others.
